Power shift Africa team Featured on TBC oNLINE
While on a strategic meeting hosted by the Africa Coal Network in Tanzania, Campaigns Lead at Power Shift Africa Dean Bhebhe and Movement of Movements Buildings Space Coordinator Omar Elmawi were interviewed by TBC News.
"Africa already houses 60% of Renewable Energy resources to drive its future energy system. The challenge is securing the financing needed to leapfrog to that new energy system.” said Dean on Africa’s strategic position as a renewable energy hub.
Omar spoke about the debt owed to Africans due to the climate crisis, which has disrupted food systems, fishing, and other nature-based livelihoods. He also highlighted how Africa has suffered the most from the climate crisis while contributing only 4% to historic carbon emissions.
