Al-Jaber's oil company to emit 11 billion tons of GHGs by 2050

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), headed by COP28 President Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, will emit more than 11 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases in the next 25 years. This is according to a campaign group Global Witness’ analysis of data from industry monitor Rystad Energy.

It is reported that the greenhouse gas emissions will almost be equivalent to the annual emissions by China. The campaign group also indicated that ADNOC plans to produce an estimated 1.25 billion barrels of oil equivalent in 2030, a 42% increase on current production.

The analysis also suggests that the oil giant plans to produce more than 28 billion barrels of oil equivalent by 2050This means that ADNOC could be on track to emit 11.3 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent by 2050, which is a mixture of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
