Pepper spray and dog unit at protest against gas conference in Vienna

The European Gas Conference (European Gas Conference, EGC), which started yesterday in Vienna's Hotel Marriott, has never attracted so much attention.

From March 27 to 29, experts will meet with companies such as OMV, BP and Shell and political representatives in the city centre.

...DGA spokesman Dean Bhekumuzi Bhebhe said: "Millions of people are losing their homes, have no access to food, their health is threatened and they are slipping into increasing poverty because of the fossil industry. Instead of selling fossil fuel rights to multinational corporations, African leaders should invest in clean, renewable energy that directly benefits people across the continent without harming their health."
